Who
is a woman after God’s heart? Who is the one who loves God with reckless
abandon? She is the one who has been born again and has experienced a spiritual
rebirth. The one who has had a unique encounter with God and can never forget
in a hurry…..as long as she lives! Loving God involves your whole heart, soul,
might and strength; it involves your total being. It doesn’t have anything to
with whether it’s convenient or not for you but especially when it’s highly
inconvenient, and inappropriate by worldly standards. Love is not an emotion; rather
He is God. In the Bible, John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but
have everlasting life. God has demonstrated His Love to us in that when we were
yet sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:6-8). Amazing isn’t it? We love and
can truly be in love with Him because He first loved us! So therefore, having a
heart after God is first of all, acknowledging His Love and eternal sacrifice
on that old rugged cross, accepting Him into your heart and confessing Him to
the world that He died, rose again, and He is right now seated at the right
hand of God the Father in Heaven(Romans10:9-10).
Secondly, worshipping Him in spirit and in
truth; living for Him daily in your thoughts, words and actions, finally,
upholding His Word with utmost reverence above everything else in your life.
That’s how to have a heart after God. King David in the Psalms wrote about his
intense love for God: “As the deer pants after the water brooks, so my soul
pants after you”. David was clearly passionate about God and his worship of God
that he didn’t care if he went naked! He was steadfast in his pursuit of God
that he longed to build a temple of worship to the LORD. That’s a very avid
example of a life being sold out to God. We have the innate desire, longing and
passion already built in us to seek after God and pursue Him relentlessly, and we can only attain that place when we draw
near to Him. And perhaps, you stumbled across this article and you’re not yet
born again, make a commitment to the Lord Jesus today and accept Him into your
heart, and you will begin to experience a hunger and a thirst after
righteousness like never before (Matthew5:6).
